You can also call us at 919-560-3837 (Monday – Friday 7AM to 5PM). If there is no answer, leave a message and an IT Technician will follow up with your request.

When submitting a ticket for a BrightLink issue, please describe the issue you are having and include the model # of the projector, the room number, and the best time to stop by to troubleshoot your issue.

General Maintenance

  • You should regularly check the connections to your BrightLink to make sure they are functioning properly. If you find that one of the connections for your BrightLink is not functioning properly, please submit an IT Support ticket and a technician will come out to assist you.

  • Make sure that the BrightLink is turned off (not A/V muted) when not in use. Leaving the projector on for extended periods shortens the life of the projector and can lead to overheating.

  • Some projectors have an ECO mode that allows for lower power consumption. You can enable this in the BrightLink menu under ECO -> Power Consumption. This will also extend the life of your lamp.

  • The average life of an Epson BrightLink lamp varies depending on what model projector is in the room. All BrightLinks have a built-in feature to alert you when the bulbs are reaching the end of their life. If you get this message, submit a request to the DPS IT Support Center at https://itsupport.dpsnc.net/ or ITSupport@dpsnc.net for a replacement bulb,

Filters should be cleaned or replaced every 6 months. If your projector shuts off and the Temp light next to the power button starts blinking, submit a request to the DPS IT Support Center at https://itsupport.dpsnc.net/ or ITSupport@dpsnc.net and discontinue use of the projector.

General Care Tips

  • Never unplug the projector from the electrical outlet while the projector is powered on or the fan is still spinning. This can cause permanent damage to the projector.

  • Make sure to be gentle when plugging and removing cables into the wall plate to connect devices to the projector. Repeatedly connecting and removing cables from the wall plate causes stress on the input and plastic frame, which may lead to it breaking.

  • At the end of the school year, please leave all equipment in the area where the device is installed for maintenance.

Wireless Connectivity and Interactive Pen Requests

For instructions on projecting wirelessly, refer to the User Manual for your device model. If your BrightLink does not have wireless connectivity configured or you would like to use the interactive pens, but they are not calibrated, please reach out to the DPS IT Support Center at https://itsupport.dpsnc.net/ or ITSupport@dpsnc.net.

Solving Projector or Remote Control Operation Problems

If the projector does not come on when you press the power button or it shuts off unexpectedly, try the following solutions:

• Make sure the power cord is securely connected to the projector and to a working electrical outlet.

• The projector's buttons may be locked for security. Unlock the buttons or use the remote control to turn on the projector.

• The power cord may be defective. Disconnect the cord and contact DPS IT Support.

• If the projector's lamp shuts off unexpectedly, it may have entered standby mode after a period of inactivity. Press the power button to wake the projector.

• If the projector's lamp shuts off and the power and Temp lights are red, the projector has overheated and shut off. Please contact DPS IT Support.

• If the power button on the remote control does not turn on the projector, check its batteries and make sure the Remote Receivers setting is turned on in the projector's menus, if available.

If the projector does not respond to remote control commands, try the following solutions:

• Check that the remote control batteries are installed correctly and have power. If necessary, replace the batteries.

• Make sure you are operating the remote control within the reception angle and range of the projector.

• Check to see if a button on the remote control is stuck down, causing it to enter sleep mode. Release the button to wake the remote control up.

• Strong fluorescent lighting, direct sunlight, or infrared device signals may be interfering with the projector's remote receivers. Dim the lights or move the projector away from the sun or interfering equipment.

BrightLink Connection Options

The image above shows the connections available for connecting devices to your BrightLink. Devices can be connected using an HDMI cable, VGA cable or by connecting wirelessly using the EasyMP Network Projection software.

For BrightLinks without an HDMI connection, please use the Dell docking station that was provided with your laptop. You will need to connect to your projector using a VGA cable (refer to images below).

*Note: The Wi-fi adapters needed for 450wi and 455wi BrightLinks are no longer manufactured. If your projector is a 450wi or 455wi BrightLink and already has a wi-fi adapter, please note that audio is not supported when connected wirelessly on 450Wi and 455Wi BrightLinks*

Selecting an Image Source

If you have connected multiple image sources to the projector, such as a computer and document camera, you may want to switch from one image source to the other.

1. Make sure the connected image source you want to use is turned on.

2. Do one of the following:

Press the Source Search button on the projector or remote control until you see the image from the source you want.

Press the button for the source you want on the remote control.

  1. Computer/VGA port sources

  2. Video and HDMI sources

  3. USB port sources (computer and external devices)

  4. Network sources (LAN)

Configuring EasyMP Network Projection Software

  • Download the EasyMP Network Projection software from the Epson website and install it. This step may require an IT Technician to allow the program to install.

  • When you first open the software, it will ask you if you’d like to use Quick Connection mode or Advanced connection mode. Select Advanced. You also may get a message about disabling the firewall. Select No.

  • Click Manual Search at the top and type in the IP address of the Brightlink. The IP address can be found by clicking the LAN button on the Brightlink remote or by going to Menu > Network >Net Info. – Wireless LAN.

  • Valid IP addresses will start with a 10. Look at the image below for an example. If your IP address starts with a 192 or 169, recheck the network configuration on the Brightlink.

  • Select Save in the profile and give it a name. Click Add

  • Select Set options and under Search method on startup, make sure Search with the last network configuration is selected. Click OK.

  • Select Connect
